Choosing a product
I'm new to track days. What should I buy first? A GPS lap timer. The Solo 2 records lap and split times; the Solo 2 DL also records your car's ECU data, so you can see why one lap was faster. Our Solo 2 vs Solo 2 DL guide explains the difference.
What's the difference between a lap timer and a dash logger? A lap timer is a self-contained unit you mount and go. A dash logger, such as the MXS 1.3, MXG 1.3, MXP 1.3 or MXT 1.3, replaces or adds to your gauges and logs sensors you wire in, like oil pressure, brake pressure and temperatures.
Which MX dash is right for me? They differ mainly in screen size and how many sensors you can connect. The MXS suits most track cars; the MXG, MXP and MXT add larger screens and more inputs for race cars with full sensor packages. Call us with your car and goals and we'll recommend one.
What's a Strada dash? The Strada models are display-only dashes. To make one record data, add the Strada Logger Kit.
I race karts. What do I need? The MyChron 6 is AiM's kart dash and logger. Choose the MyChron 6 2T if you want two temperature sensors.
How do I add video? An AiM SmartyCam 4 Corsa connects to AiM loggers and overlays your data on the video. The AiM Track Day Kit bundles one with a Solo 2 DL.
Compatibility and installation
Will AiM work with my car's ECU? AiM supports more than 1,000 ECUs over CAN, RS232, K-Line and OBDII. Tell us your car or ECU and we'll confirm which connection and cable you need.
Does it work on motorcycles? Yes. We stock Solo 2 DL ECU harnesses and brackets for Ducati, BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and Aprilia sport bikes.
Which harness do I need for an MX dash? Most installs start with the 37-pin primary harness, plus the 22-pin expansion harness for extra sensors. See all harnesses.
Can you build a custom harness? Yes. We build harnesses to order for AiM dashes, PDMs and sensors. Contact us with your vehicle and the system you're installing.
What sensors should I add first? For most track cars, oil pressure and temperature, then brake pressure and throttle position. Browse sensors, or ask us what fits your goals.
Can I use AiM sensors with a non-AiM logger? Yes. The AiM Open range includes sensors, keypads and modules with flying-lead or open CAN connections.
Software and data
What software do AiM products use? AiM Race Studio 3, which is free. You use it to set up your device and to review your data after a session.
I have data but don't know what to look for. Where do I start? Compare your fastest lap with a slower one and look at speed through each corner first. Our Data Analysis Tips and YouTube channel walk through the basics, and our coaching goes further.
Can you help me set up my dash or logger? Yes. Book an online consulting hour and we'll configure it with you in Race Studio 3.
Orders, shipping and returns
How fast do you ship? In-stock parts ship in 1–3 days. Most US orders arrive within a week.
Can I return something? Yes, within 30 days. See our Shipping & Returns page for details.
Do you ship outside the US? Contact us with your country and we'll confirm options and cost.
Can my AI assistant order from you? Yes. AI shopping assistants can search our catalog, build a cart and create a checkout link through our public shopping endpoint at trailbrake.com/api/mcp. You always complete checkout yourself.
Coaching, consulting and services
Do you offer data coaching? Yes. We coach drivers one-on-one on reading their data and turning it into faster laps. Contact us to book.
What does an online consulting hour cover? Any AiM question you bring: device setup, Race Studio 3 configuration, sensor wiring or a review of your data. Book an hour.
I bought my AiM system somewhere else. Can you still help? Yes. We offer consulting for AiM products bought elsewhere too.
Can I try a Solo 2 before I buy? Yes, through our Solo 2 rental program. Contact us for availability.
